Hardware Requirements

The hardware requirements basically depend on three parameters:

  • Number of concurrent users / devices
  • Usage of HTTP Webfilter module (WF)
  • Usage of Application Control module (AC)

IACBOX - Internet Access Control software can be installed on almost every standard PC hardware which is certified for Linux distributions like SUSE® Linux Enterprise Server, Red Hat® Enterprise Linux or similar Linux Distributions including:

  • Dell R230
  • HP ProLiant DL 385
  • HP ProLiant DL 20
  • HP ProLiant MicroServer Gen8
  • Fujitsu PRIMERGY RX100 S8
  • PC Engines (apu1c, apu1c4, apu2)

CPU Cores:

* Starting from 250 users processor with 2,50 GHz or better required
* Virtualization environments generally need more ressources
* Functions like advanced Web Filter, Application Control or Connection Tracking are very
  CPU- intensive and should therefore be used with great care.

RAM:
* In order to use the new DNS based Web Filter of IACBOX version 17.2, at least 4GB of internal memory must be available.
