Security Hotfix TCP-SACK

June 26th, 2019

As you've probably heard, last week Netflix' developers disclosed security breaches in the Linux and FreeBSD network stack. They are all related to the Selective Acknowledgements (SACK) TCP mechanism in various kernel versions, with different effects. An overview including information about the vulnerabilities can be found here. Even if the impact is limited to the service availability, and so far, we are not aware of any real attacks, the problem needs to be solved.

This is why the IACBOX developer heroes immediately got to work and created an update for the IACBOX.

Patchlevel Update 13560

Since Monday, the Patchlevel Update 13560 is available for manual download. It is a hotfix security update, and it holds a new kernel including patches. All you have to do is log in to the IACBOX WebAdmin, go to Online Update / Updates Available and click update button. The IACBOX will restart afterwards. If you prefer waiting for the automatic online update, it follow next week. In this case just make sure that the Automatic Online Update is not de-activated (in the same menu - default setting is active).
